Academies.
The Henrico County Police Division prides itself in offering two types of police academies for our future recruits.
The Basic Police Academy is for individuals who have not been certified by a law-enforcement agency. This academy consists of 30-35 weeks of classroom and hands-on, scenario-based training. Learn more about the Basic Police Academy.
The Modified Police Academy is for Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) and certified out-of-state officers. Officers who are VA-DCJS certified typically attend an eight-week academy; out-of-state is 12-weeks. If the academy has both VA-DCJS officers and out-of-state officers, it will be a 12-week academy.
